I’ve been busy, like REAL busy. A bunch of stuff has happened in the last few months, which has really changed where I’m going in a lot of places so I’ll make a bit of a list here and then go into a bit of detail with it as I find time.
Thailand – I just came back (Last Tuesday) from spending a month in Phuket, Thailand. I was staying at Patong Boxing Gym to practice Muay Thai as well as enjoy a holiday. The best way to describe the trip is “Amazing”. Staying there for a month I got a whole lot of stuff done, some of the stuff I did included: Snorkelling, Sightseeing, Bungee Jumping, Muay Thai Training, Shopping, etc etc etc. There was far too much stuff to do.
My accommodation was at the boxing gym so I was able to spend some time with the trainers outside of the gym and it was really interesting to see where they live, eat and spend their leisure time. All in all it was an amazing trip that has really changed my outlook on a few things. I’m planning on going back next year however I also want to travel so some other countries both in Asia and elsewhere.
Work – I won my contract again for another 12 months of work, this is awesome experience for me and even though the first week hasn’t even finished the environment is completely different and I can see some real innovation occurring this year, I’ve got some interesting projects coming up and I’m having to make some hard decisions on what to use as the best tool that will decrease development time while also use resources and maintenance efficiently. We recently launched our new public website, which I spent the last half of 2012 designing, perfecting, designing again, developing and deploying. It’s built in WordPress and looks pretty slick.
Deleting all my games – Not really a major event but still a fairly big deal for me. A few weeks ago I deleted all of my computer games from my PC. This has given me a huge amount of free time to work on other projects and perfect other, more important skills. I’ve found myself having an extra 3-8 hours in a day now, which is absolutely amazing.
NoseyHam – Noseyham is my personal project that has been going on since August 2012 with very little work being completed until I went to Thailand and got some serious work on it done. You can check it out over at http://www.noseyham.asia. You can also check it out at Github. I’ve done a lot of work on it lately and it’s coming together quite nicely, there are still UI things to add as well as more pages and features.
